Each students grade will be based on a set of weekly assignments.

Reading: The students will be able to pick out a book of grade level or above at the beginning of the year. Week 10 of the course the student will give an oral presentation on the book. This presentation can be given any way the students wants, as long as it fits the schools policies.

Writing: Each student will be able to research a topic of something they are interested in a write a 3-4 page research paper on that topic. Topics may be anything that is appropriate.

Spelling: Students will be given a list of vocabulary at the beginning of each week (Mondays). This list will be constructed of 10 words that the students are required to memorize the spelling and definition of all. A spelling test will be given every Friday. Week 10 there will be a spelling test on all of the words, as well as a paragraph written and made up by the student using at least 5 of the vocab words in their paragraph.
